Let it snow!

Pretty Huh.

A snow like we saw in Germany

Beauty and Trouble.

Love it: Hate it

The effects of winter can be both beautiful and nasty. I will always love how snow changes the scenery, but it is being pretty nasty now. This reminds me of the snow I saw in Germany when my family went over during Christmas years ago.
I am still in Ohio, and a lot of the counties have declared this a level 3 snow emergency. That means that if you are caught on the roads they will fine you.
I finally got hold of the security guard at the shipper; I was supposed to go to today. They informed me that they were closed because of the weather and may be tomorrow. They were told if any trucks showed up to send them away.
I’m not sure when I’ll get home now. It may be this week-end before I see the smiling face of my beautiful wife. I know that she has had a double shot of worry these past days with me telling her all my woes and her sister having to return to the hospital. Evin’s operation went ok but she developed an infection and had to return to the hospital. They tried to treat the infection with drugs that she had a bad reaction to. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
Remember, if you have to drive in adverse weather, the best way to stay safe is to go very slow. Break gently and do it way before you think you need to. Snow and ice can kill!

I want to go home

Well, the title about tell it all. I am suppose to be home tomorrow. That is not going to happen. I am in Ohio and can't pick up a load till 2PM tomorrow. It will go to Chester SC. It is about a 10 hr. trip and the weather is stinking. If I can do it, I will but I probably will not get home till Thursday.
If anyone out there is considering driving a truck for a living, the only think I can say is, DON'T! Making a living this way is darn near an impossibility.
Driving the big rigs is fun but from what I've seen there is no way to make any money doing it.
Remember weather can ruin your whole day. Slow down, expect the unexpected, and arrive alive.

local scenery

Not much around here.

Broken blue truck

I just can't seem to keep it fixed!

Snoman or snowtruck?

What a snow!

Lots of snow

Hey all you Southerners, look at all that snow.

Fed Up

Sunday
01/18/09

Broke down again and I’m fed up with it! I just had the truck in Werner’s shop for its regular maintenance. The day I got it out of the shop, Friday, the clutch went out. The breakdown dept. was so backlogged that they did not contact a towing Co. till 5:30 AM the next day, and only then because of my badgering them on the phone. Also the place I stopped at was a dead zone for the quail comm.
Saturday morning I got towed to the Freightliner dealership on the outskirts of Kalamazoo MI. Guess what greeted me. A facility that is closed on the week-end.
With the temp. in the teens I have been idling day and night. I’m sure there will repercussions from that. Also with my quail comm. Out of service I could not send my nightly inspection report and I could not change my status from driving to in the sleeper. I received a warning for those also.
Staying in the truck for this long a period is sending me to the looney bin. I can’t leave it though, because there is no motel close and no transportation to it.
I have got to find a job befitting a person my age! Wal-Mart greeter here I come!
Remember, speed kills. Be safe out there

Reason for idling

Boy it's cold outside!

Is it still Christmas?

This truck stop was really in the holiday spirit!

Hard to get a good pic and drive

It may be blurry, but you still see the beauty of the scene!

Vermont country

Nice

Twice in a day

Hey, Strange but I am getting on the blog twice in one day. I have made it into Ohio and will deliver my load in MI tomorrow. I will have to get up fairly early to deliver it and then go to pick up my next load.
I am going to try to spend the night without idling. I know that they are going to say something about how much I've been idling. I am sure that if I had not idled the engine would not have started this morning and then I would be up the creek! It was 4 degrees when I went to bed last night.
I'm going to put some more pictures up on the blog, so till next time, drive safe!

Twice in a day

Vermont

Very pretty country!

Time to idle

Wow! Its cold!

The start of a New Year! Well kind of. I’m back in the northern states. Evidentially they love to send me up here. I am not sure why. I have not been mean to anyone in trip planning. I guess that they said eny, meany, miney, moe and came up with me. Well
If they would give me some long trips, I would not complain. They like to stick me with
Low mileage trips and I am not making any money with them.
Enough complaining, this is the new year and hopefully things will start looking up! Got to run, just got a new load assignment.
Be careful out there on the hiways!
